International experts from public bodies, scientific disciplines and nature conservation will give presentations and lead workshops at Peatlands Perspectives - restoring for tomorrow. Participants will gain great inspiration and the latest information, knowledge, insights and tools that can be put to immediate use.
Peatlands in Europe
Europe is the world’s second largest emitter of greenhouse gases from degraded peatlands. Approximately 7% of total European greenhouse gas emissions originate from drained raised bogs repurposed for agriculture or forestry. Less than 10% of the original raised bogs in Western and Central Europe remain – the rest have been excavated and cultivated.
Travel & accommodation
The in-house programme of Peatland Perspectives - restoring for tomorrow will take place in the administrative centre of the Overijssel provincial government building at Luttenbergstraat 2 in Zwolle.
